INTEGRATED TRAINING RESOURCES

"Helping you ask the right questions."™

Required Preparation:

  • Participants will be emailed pdfs of participant materials or will be directed to a download site; participants are responsible for printing and binding course materials. Pens, pencils, and highlighters are also required.
  • For courses in this series participants are encouraged to have a computer loaded with Microsoft Excel 2010 or higher and  Minitab 19 or higher; a trial version of Minitab is available at http://www.minitab.com/en-us/products/minitab/ . Completion of Minitab Quality Trainer and/or experience with Minitab is highly recommended.
  • A dual monitor or dual device configuration is highly recommended to allow for real-time practice.

This 3-day, 4-hours per day webinar will provide you with fundamental knowledge and hands-on practice with Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R, and key MSA tools. Topics addressed include the overview and application of Basic Statistical Concepts, Basic Variable Control Charts as applied to MSA, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) Terms and Concepts, Minimum Resolution requirements for GRR studies and production inspection, Calculations of Bias and Measurement Uncertainty, Gage R&R Methods and Strategies for both Variable and Attribute Data, and the Impact of Measurement Error on Process Capability.  The course is designed for all levels of design and manufacturing personnel, as well as more experienced engineering and quality personnel.

Here are some of the things that you’ll learn:

  • MSA and GRR requirements and methodology related to special characteristics
  • How to properly prepare and conduct variable and attribute studies, even with small sample sizes, including variable studies using just one piece
  • How to interpret Minitab GRR analyses
  • How to analyze variables control charts, including X-bar & R within the context of the GRR study
  • How to determine minimum resolution requirements
  • How do identify and address resolution or discrimination related challenges
  • How do identify and address repeatability related challenges
  • How do identify and address reproducibility related challenges
  • The critical relationship between measurement system error and process capability
  • How to assess whether a gage is acceptable for a specific purpose, even if it demonstrates greater than acceptable error
  • How to interpret Gage R&R as a percentage of the process variation and/or the specification tolerance
  • Demonstration and real-time practice of related studies within the Minitab environment

Recommended Resources:
Participants are responsible for securing their own copies of the related AESQ standards to class for reference purposes; AS13100, AS9145, RM13003 and related standards are referenced, and reference materials are provided in the course materials. Participants are also encouraged to load their notebook or laptop computer with Microsoft Excel 2010 or higher and  Minitab 19 or higher; a dual monitor or dual device configuration is not mandatory but is highly recommended to be able to participate in classroom exercises. A trial version of Minitab is available at http://www.minitab.com/en-us/products/minitab/ .

NOTE: This course does not focus on RM13004 related tools including PFD, PFMEA, and Control Plan, and is not a practicum for developing other APQP and PPAP deliverables such as MSA and GRR. In-depth, hands-on practice opportunities on PFMEA and MSA are provided in the other webinars in this series.
